PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Despite a weekend marked by smoky skies and intense heat, outdoor activities continued across the region Saturday as music fans gathered in Portsmouth.
Weekend events a boost to downtown Portsmouth
A sold-out crowd of music fans and vendors camped out near the Portsmouth Pavilion for a two-day music festival featuring bluegrass artist, Billy Strings. Attendees faced a combination of heat, humidity, potential storms, and wildfire smoke, but many reported they were making the most of the weekend.
The conditions followed even worse air quality the day before.
“It was much worse yesterday. You couldn’t even see across the river,” said festival vendor Dede Yuni who came from Maryland.
