‘It was miserable:’ Attendees upset over weekend experience at Hampton Roads Convention Center

HAMPTON, Va. — Some local residents are seeking refunds following what they described as a chaotic and frustrating experience at the East Coast Card Show’s Anime City event held Saturday at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.

Attendees reported severe organizational issues, noting that lines wrapped around the building, leaving some to wait in the heat for up to three hours.

Benjamin Flynn, who said his family purchased VIP tickets, said entry took hours past their designated arrival time, and the overcrowding cut their visit short.

“It was very poorly planned,” Flynn said, adding, “People came out and said there was supposed to be a VIP line, but now there’s just one line. I would estimate we were there maybe an hour-and-a-half before it just … like I said, it was too crowded.”…
