Police searching for suspect who shot at officer during Chesapeake pursuit

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – The Chesapeake Police Department is looking for a suspect who shot at an officer during a pursuit, following an attempted traffic stop early Wednesday morning.

Police say on Jan. 24 around 4:30 a.m., an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic stop near Greenbrier Parkway and Jarman Road. The vehicle did not stop, causing a pursuit.

During the pursuit, police say the suspect shot at the officer. The suspect’s vehicle then went off the road, causing the officer to lose sight of the suspect.

The officer was not injured.

Officers were on scene attempting to locate the suspect and are still investigating the incident.

No injuries were reported.

10 On Your Side’s Brett Hall was at the scene where he saw officers searching the nearby Birches Apartments, where officers believe the suspect fled to. A tow truck was also seen being taken away, but it is unclear at this time if that is connected to the incident.
