NORFOLK, Va. — A man accused of killing his wife of 11 years, putting her body in the freezer, and fleeing to Hong Kong is back in Virginia to face charges.
David Varela is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Lina Guerra, 39. A missing persons report was filed for her on Feb. 4, after police said contact was last made with her on Jan. 16. Her body was found on Feb. 5 at their home in the 300 block of East Main Street.
