Two six-story admin buildings, three six-story parking garages and much more: Fort Belvoir’s massive expansion taking shape

The U.S. Department of the Army has submitted a federal consistency determination for a long-term development plan at Fort Belvoir’s North Area campus, triggering a public review process through the Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program.

According to the filing, the Army proposes a series of construction projects and infrastructure improvements over the next 20 years. Planned expansions include an 806,000-square-foot joint integrated logistics center, an 8,000-square-foot visitor control center, three six-story parking structures and two six-story administrative buildings on the eastern portion of the campus.

The plan under consideration is for an 800-acre area in Springfield, two miles north of the main installation and home to the 2.3 million-square-foot National Geospatial Intelligence Agency headquarters and support facilities…
