Emergency repairs underway on corroded, weak spot of Potomac Interceptor sewer line

WASHINGTON (7News) — Emergency repair work began Monday on a weak spot in the Potomac Interceptor sewer line after DC Water found a deteriorating area that officials say could fail if not addressed immediately.

The damaged section is not currently broken, officials said, but inspections found it is weakening, corroding, and showing signs of severe structural deterioration.

DC Water said the goal of the emergency rehabilitation work is to repair the fragile section before it fails and potentially leaks wastewater into the Potomac River…
