WASHINGTON (7News) — We remain in an active weather pattern on your Thursday as an area of high pressure remains parked to the southwest of D.C. Clockwise flow around this ridge of high pressure will bring numerous rounds of showers and storms to the region with the risk of severe storms.
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has most of our area under a Slight (2 out of 5) Risk for severe storms. Damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph will continue to be the primary threat, along with frequent lightning and torrential downpours.
Pockets of heavy rain and gusty thunderstorms are moving through the region this morning. While severe weather is not as likely this morning, one or two storms could reach severe limits.
