Silver Spring’s newest urban park creates space for gathering, active recreation

Downtown Silver Spring’s newest park, a space teeming with amenities including a multisport court, a dog run and a fitness area, is expected to open to the public in the coming days after more than a year under construction, according to Montgomery Parks.

Bottleworks Lane Park at 1110 East West Highway was once an industrial site home to a National Tire and Battery auto center; now it is a vibrant urban recreational space where park planners packed an array of amenities on one acre.

Those amenities include a stage, a game area with a ping-pong table, fitness equipment, multi-age playgrounds, a nature play area, and a pollinator garden. The park also has ample places to lounge, including a central grassy lawn, terrace, shelter and picnic area…
