Jan. 6 Rioter Who ‘Blind-Side Tackled’ Officer Gets 6-Year Prison Sentence

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly said there was no excuse for Ralph Celentano’s behavior and his conduct on that day was ‘disgraceful’

A Jan. 6 rioter who Jan. 6 rioter who “blind-side tackled” a Capitol Police Officer during the Capitol riot was sentenced to six years in prison on Tuesday.

Ralph Celentano, a New York man who referred to former President Donald Trump as the greatest president in history, will serve 78 months in a federal prison after he tackled a USCP office and flipped him over a ledge.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly said there was no excuse for Celentano’s behavior and his conduct on that day was “disgraceful.” He called Celentano’s attack on the officer Kenrick Ellis “a truly cowardly and despicable thing to do.”

Ellis testified that he thought the fighting outside was Capitol would be “the end of him.”

“I believed that was how my life was going to end that day,” Ellis said.

“You’re not a patriot,” Ellis told Celentano in court at the sentencing hearing. “You’re a coward.”
