Police identify woman killed in deadly hit-and-run in West End

WASHINGTON — Police have identified the woman who was struck and killed in a deadly hit-and-run in the West End neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Police say they are still searching for the driver.

On Saturday, April 18, around 11:11 a.m., 61-year-old Dawn Ciccone, of Northwest, DC, was hit and killed by a driver of 2026 Jeep Wrangler with Maryland tags that was traveling southbound in the 1100 block of 23rd Street, Northwest, and failed to stop behind already waiting cars making a left turn on L Street in the designated turn lane. The driver passed the other cars and made a left turn from the middle lane, the non-turning lane.

Ciccone was in the crosswalk at the time, crossing L Street when the driver struck her. The driver did not stop and fled the scene…
