A pedestrian was killed Monday evening in a crash at the intersection of N. St. Asaph Street and Montgomery Street, the Alexandria Police Department said.
The department announced the fatal crash at 6:40 p.m. and said its Crash Reconstruction Unit had responded to the scene. The intersection was closed as the investigation got underway, and police asked drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
Police did not immediately release the identity of the pedestrian or provide details about the vehicle or driver involved. No information was released about what led to the crash.
