DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro responds to DC police shakeup after internal investigation on crime data

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said she is not surprised at the latest shakeup happening at the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

This week, 13 officers were put on administrative leave and served termination papers following the completion of an Internal Affairs investigation that looked into accusations that officers were manipulating crime data.

“We did an investigation starting in August, before anyone else did, because we knew the stats were being deflated,” said Pirro. “We interviewed more than 51 people and 6,000 separate police reports. We did our work on this, and it was real clear what was going on.”
