Severe thunderstorm leaves damage across Palm Beach County

A severe thunderstorm warning prompted widespread damage reports across Palm Beach County Tuesday evening, with viewers sending in videos showing the aftermath.

WPTV first alert weather spotter, Tom Blythe, shared video of the storm rolling in. Severe storms then ripped through the Arden community, causing damage to homes along Haywagon Trail. In Century Village in West Palm Beach, a viewer-submitted video shows heavy hail moving through the area, along with a downed tree.

Ring camera video from the Rosado family on Haywagon Trail captured the moment powerful winds tore through their backyard, knocking everything off their porch and eventually ripping the camera out of its socket. Another viewer-submitted photo from the same neighborhood shows a trampoline that ended up on top of a roof. The Rosado family said they ran inside after seeing trash flying at a neighboring home.

The Rosado family said everyone is OK, crediting a plan they had in place ahead of the storm.

“I went into the closet and my husband turned off all the lights to make sure, you know. In case the power went out, we had, I have a basket in the closet already for hurricane season, so flashlights, ponchos, we put our shoes on, um, and just waited. He kept coming in and out just to make sure everything was OK,” the Rosado family said…
