Wichita City Council appoves changes to golf cart ordinance

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Wichita City Council approved changes to the city’s ordinance on Tuesday regarding golf carts, in a first reading.

Starting July 1, the vehicles will be allowed to be driven on sidewalks in Wichita. All council members voted for the change except District 2 Councilmember Becky Tuttle who abstained.

In April, Kansas legislators passed House Bill 2124 allowing towns and cities to enact ordinances for operating golf carts on city sidewalks. The legislative action was taken in response to a Kansas Attorney General opinion that golf carts could not be operated on city multiuse paths or sidewalks…
