Wichita Animal Shelter, Kansas Humane Society issue desperate plea for adoptions

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Animal Shelter and Kansas Humane Society are out of space.

The Wichita Animal Shelter said Friday that there are hundreds of dogs and cats at both facilities that need homes. Manager Emily Hurst said an average of 30 lost cats and dogs are entering Wichita Animal Shelter daily.

She said not enough owners are coming to claim their animals and not enough people are adopting pets at the Kansas Humane Society. The Wichita Animal Shelter said this is putting animals at risk for euthanasia.

Wichita church to give away free gas cards

There are currently about 160 animals at the Wichita Animal Shelter. If your dog or cat is missing, you can check to see if they are at the shelter. The shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m…
