A rezoning that would allow small-scale commercial uses alongside housing near South Seneca Street and West Maple Street is among eight land-use cases the Wichita-Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission is scheduled to consider this month.
The official hearing notice sets the meeting for August 27, no earlier than 1:30 p.m., at the Ronald Reagan Building, 271 W. Third St., second floor.
The cases most likely to affect nearby residents
The mixed-use proposal would rezone 1110 W. Maple St., on the northwest corner of South Seneca Street and West Maple Street, from MF-18 Multi-Family Residential District to a Planned Unit Development allowing small-scale commercial and residential uses.
A second case involves 500 S. 135th Street West, where a Warehouse, Self-Service Storage facility is proposed on land currently zoned General Office District—a change that requires both a zoning amendment and a conditional use permit.
