About four months after a fire led to the destruction of Field Station: Dinosaur’s signature feature, the Derby attraction has closed for six weeks for “comprehensive property maintenance,” the business announced on its Facebook. The closure begins today.
In April, the attraction’s 100-foot animatronicSauroposeidon dinosaurwas set ablaze by a lightning strike, causing its destruction. The attraction shifted gears, and has kept the skeleton of the dinosaur up to provide guests an inside look on how the dinosaurs are built.
“It’s very rare that anyone gets to see what it looks like inside one of these dinosaurs,” Guy Gsell Field Station: Dinosaur’s executive producer, told The Wichita Eagle after the fire. “So that’s what we’re going to do now and make it a learning opportunity for everybody.”…
