WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – For the second time this month and third time this year, McConnell Air Force Base is taking precautionary action ahead of the prospect of severe weather.
On Friday morning, the air force base in southeast Wichita announced evacuation plans that entail moving aircraft on the base away from the area targeted for severe storms.
“Team McConnell aircrews from the 22nd and 931st Air Refueling Wings are relocating the base’s KC-46A Pegasus and KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft to other military bases across the country. This will ensure the aircraft maintain full readiness as they continue to support current and future tasked missions, while also avoiding any potential damage should the forecasted severe weather achieve its full upper potential,” McConnell Air Force Base explained…
