Overnight thunderstorms ignite fires in downtown Salina

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A pair of lightning strikes are blamed for sparking fires overnight in Salina.

Around 12:45 a.m. Monday, firefighters were called to the report of a building fire at the Bank of Tescott at Prescott and Santa Fe avenues in downtown Salina.

The Salina Fire Department said when crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the roof and eaves, but no flames. The fire was eventually found in the attic space, but due to limited access to the bank, the department said crews had to cut a hole in the roof to get to it…
