Storms help refill Cheney Lake, boosting summer recreation

CHENEY, Kan. (KWCH) – After sitting well below normal levels in 2025, Cheney Lake is now full and drawing boaters and campers back to the water.

Visitors said last year the lake appeared dramatically lower, with one person estimating it was as much as nine feet below where it should be. But after storms last summer, people at the lake say conditions have improved.

“The water this year is absolutely beautiful. I’ve been out with friends, family, a lot of people out here so far this year, so it’s been great,” one lake goer said…
