Delaware city electric aggregation ending after council let program expire

As energy prices continue to climb, Delaware City Council did not take action on renewing the electric aggregation contract intended to use the combined power of its residents to get a lower electric rate – in effect, letting the program expire.

In May, residents started receiving letters notifying them that the program is ending in June, and the change will be reflected in residents’ July electric bills. The exact date the aggregation rate will end depends on the billing cycle for individual households.

All residents currently enrolled in the program will automatically return to their local utility, either American Electric Power Ohio or Ohio Edison without any action from residents. This means residents will go back to paying the market rate for electricity in July unless they choose to shop for a better rate online through the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) website…
