The family of Susan Ledyard, a Delaware County high school teacher, has joined with Delaware Crime Stoppers to offer a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in her 2019 homicide. Her case remains unsolved.
According to the Delaware State Police, Ledyard’s body was pulled from the Brandywine River near Northeast Boulevard in Wilmington on the morning of July 23, 2019. A construction worker made the discovery. A post-mortem examination by the Division of Forensic Science determined she died from blunt force trauma and drowning, and her manner of death was ruled a homicide.
A Reconstructed Timeline With a Four-Hour Gap
Investigators pieced together Ledyard’s movements using surveillance footage, cell phone records, and data from her Fitbit. The picture they assembled is detailed — but incomplete.
She was active on her phone, calling and texting friends, until roughly 2:45 a.m. Her black 2016 Honda Civic left her driveway at 3:02 a.m. Based on the elapsed time, detectives believe it was driven directly to Walkers Mill Road, near the Rising Sun Lane Bridge, which spans the Brandywine River…
