WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) — The Wilmington City Council narrowly approved a $349.8 million budget Tuesday evening in a 4-3 vote that will raise property taxes for homeowners starting July 1.
Mayor Pro-Tem Kevin Spears and council members Salette Andrews and Chakema Clinton-Quintana voted against the fiscal year 2026-2027 budget.
The budget increases the property tax rate by 4.9 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. Homeowners with property assessed at the median value of $445,000 will pay an additional $18.17 per month…
