First Alert Forecast: meaningful rain chances in the near term

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Thursday morning through midafternoon will have a continued risk for a passing shower or thundershower; Friday ought to be mainly or completely dry, and both days will host temps in the 60s and 70s.

While Wednesday’s rain chances mostly fell flat, Thursday’s may locally overperform. Amid a fast west flow, the next disturbance seems to be taking a good trajectory for the Cape Fear, so keep an eye out through lunch. Low pressure will paint damp, cooler 50s and 60s onto much of the Cape Fear Saturday. Half an inch of rain would be a reasonable expectation with the ongoing drought, but there’s an argument for an inch or two if the setup optimizes.

After that drought denter… Expect brisk, drier skies to return Sunday…
