A tornado plowed into a small Columbus County community Saturday afternoon, damaging several buildings along its 1.38-mile path, authorities said Sunday.
The EF1 tornado began at 3:23 p.m. in the small town of Delco and lasted three minutes, National Weather Service meteorologists said in a preliminary report.
Two single-family homes and another building along Fertilizer Road had “significant roof damage,” a large tree was uprooted, a metal awning was torn from a general store on Old Stage Road and a 500-gallon propane tank was damaged, causing a fuel leak, the NWS said…
