SHREWSBURY – In 1908, the organization now known as SELCO (Shrewsbury Electric & Cable Operations) was created to help power streetlights, municipal buildings, and residences. Its mission was to ensure the Shrewsbury community had access to reliable and affordable electricity.
Much has changed for SELCO in the last 118 years – in 1983, the organization was granted a cable television license, for instance, and introduced high-speed internet in 1999 – but its goal remains the same. Through its numerous initiatives and products, SELCO focuses on being reliable, affordable, and grounded in the community.
