Person airlifted to local hospital after being found unresponsive near Warren spillway

WARREN, Mass. (WWLP) – A person was flown to a hospital after being found unresponsive in shallow water at the bottom of a spillway in Warren on Friday.

The Central Massachusetts Regional Emergency Communications Center received a call around 12:12 p.m. Sept. 11 about a male party acting erratically on South Street in West Warren, according to a joint statement from the Warren police and fire departments.

Officers were flagged down by the reporting party and began searching for the person. Because of a nearby river and spillway, Warren police requested assistance from the Warren Fire Department.

Within six minutes of arriving, a Warren firefighter located the person unresponsive in shallow water at the bottom of an approximately 8-foot-tall spillway…
