It may be shocking for some of us to realize that the pop music group Bee Gees was formed almost 70 years ago in 1958 in Australia.
The songs don’t seem to be showing too many signs of age, however, and the Toronto-based Bee Gees tribute band Stayin’ Alive will be returning to The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts in Worcester on Oct. 1 with its show “Stayin’ Alive: One Night of the Bee Gees.”
Brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb formed the Bee Gees after immigrating to Australia with their family from England. They would come back to England and become pop stars in the 1960s and early ’70s with songs including the haunting “New York Mining Disaster 1941,” “Massachusetts” and “How Do You Mend a Broken Heart.” Then they essentially reinvented themselves for the disco beat in the mid- to late 1970s and the soundtrack for the movie “Saturday Night Fever” with hits such as “Stayin’ Alive” and “You Should Be Dancing.”…
