SHREWSBURY – A longtime Shrewsbury employee will be honored.
On September 22, the Select Board voted unanimously to name the hall of the Shrewsbury Recreation Department building, located at the corner of School Street and Main Street, after Dawn Shannon. The building will continue to be known as the Ray Stone Post 238, and Shannon and World War I veteran Raymond Stone’s names will be displayed outside the structure.
Shannon died in February. Prior to that, she worked for decades with the Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department and ran numerous programs for children of all ages. She was a devoted Town Meeting representative for many years, volunteered as part of the League of Women Voters, and dedicated countless hours to her children’s extracurricular activities…
