Central Mass. school expansion plan progresses amid financial concerns

SHREWSBURY – One step at a time, the plans for a possible expansion and renovation of Shrewsbury High School have begun to form. An owner’s project manager was recently chosen, and the process to select a designer could begin sometime this summer.

These steps are being taken with at least one member of the Select Board very concerned about the project, and another waiting on the project’s possible financial impacts before deciding.

“We want to make sure we’re not overburdening the taxpayer,” said board member Gregg Richards. Last October, Richards supported a Town Meeting article to fund a feasibility study; however, he said he might not support the project “once the scope and costs are determined.”…
