PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 22-year-old woman is trying to pick up the pieces of her life after being seriously hurt in a hit-and-run on Monday in Hillsboro.
The Hillsboro Police Department said the crash happened just before 7 a.m. off of Town Center Drive. While the investigation is ongoing, police did confirm the crash involved a pedestrian and a white SUV in a hit-and-run, though police are still attempting to track down the suspect.

Meanwhile, Estefania Lopez Avalos was left with a fractured pelvis, severe road rash and needs to get around using a walker. Lopez Avalos told KOIN 6 News she was walking to work at Ulta Beauty at the Tanasbourne Town Center after getting breakfast at McDonald’s when the SUV suddenly hit her and immediately sped off.
“I remember being almost to the other side of the pavement and I just hear a car screech and accelerating…Next thing I know, I’m being hit,” Lopez Avalos said. “It was just, like, heartbreaking, knowing that no one was helping me.”
