The National Weather Service San Diego has a Heat Advisory in effect for coastal areas through 8 PM next Monday and a Beach Hazards Statement through next Sunday evening. Forecasters are calling for mid 80s to lower 90s on the higher coastal mesas, along with a south swell driving 3 to 6 foot surf and occasional sets up to 7 feet. That one-two punch raises the risk of heat-related illnesses and strong rip currents, and evening high tides near 6.0 to 6.5 feet MLLW could bring minor coastal flooding at low-lying access points. Officials are urging people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned spaces when possible, and avoid entering the ocean except at lifeguarded beaches.
