North Charleston Block Party Violence Leads to Charges After Officers Were Attacked During July Fourth Response

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC — A July Fourth block party in North Charleston ended with gunfire, a mob attack on police and multiple arrests, according to authorities. Six people have now been charged, including four juveniles, after the scene in the Chicora-Cherokee community turned chaotic.

Police said officers were responding to a permitted neighborhood gathering when they encountered fighting, shots fired and people refusing repeated orders to leave.
