Richmond cuts off Shoosmith Landfill leachate processor over alleged leachate violations

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The city of Richmond has accused a private wastewater processing company of illegally accepting landfill leachate and discharging wastewater into the city’s sewer system, cutting off the processor used by the bankrupt Shoosmith Landfill.

On Thursday, July 2, Scott Morris, head of Richmond’s Department of Public Utilities (DPU), issued the notice of alleged violation to Aqua Clean Environmental LLC, doing business as Reco Biotechnology, a private wastewater processing company located near Gilpin and Whitcomb Courts.
