Demolition begins at former Dee Lite Bakery site for affordable housing project

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Demolition is underway at the former Dee Lite Bakery property in Kalihi to clear the path for a new affordable housing development.

Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi and Department of Housing and Land Management Director Kevin Auger gathered at the Eluwene Street property on Monday afternoon for a ceremonial demolition to mark the start of the project.

Plans for the site include approximately 150 affordable housing units targeted at households earning 60% or less of the area median income…
