EBRSO: Former classmate accused of stealing thousands of dollars from autistic woman

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Baton Rouge woman is accused of receiving money from a former classmate who is on the autism spectrum and not paying her back.

Mikenzie Edwards, 20, of Baton Rouge, was charged with theft and exploitation of elderly persons or persons with infirmities.

The father of the woman who gave the money to Edwards contacted the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO) on Dec. 30, 2025.

He confirmed that his daughter was on the autism spectrum and received Medicaid benefits because of her disability…
