A Dallas police sergeant has been suspended for 15 days after an internal investigation found he improperly accessed a fellow officer’s cellphone and allegedly sent private images from her device to himself, a case that has prompted criticism from a police advocacy organization and renewed questions about accountability within the department, The New York Post reported.
The allegations involve Sgt. Daylon L. Grandberry, a veteran officer who has served with the Dallas Police Department since 2008. According to the Dallas Police Women’s Association, the incident occurred several months ago when Grandberry asked a female officer about games on her phone, observed her entering the device’s passcode and later requested permission to download a game onto the phone, The Dallas Morning News said.
The women’s association alleges Grandberry stepped away while holding the phone, accessed a password-protected folder containing private photographs and sent two images to himself before returning the device.
