Seafair 2026 quickly turned chaotic for boaters on Lake Washington after high winds battered a brand new log boom, ultimately breaking it apart and sending many boats adrift.
“Multiple boats were crashing into each other,” said Eve Vashkus, who shared video with KUOW of the moments after a section of the boom broke off. “We were very lucky to have a fishing boat that was fully rubber surrounded — that boat got pinched.”
High winds moved over Lake Washington Saturday, Aug. 1, prompting a rare cancellation of the annual Blue Angels air show.
