NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Saturday’s pedestrian death marked 23 people killed on Nashville roadways so far this year. Now, a Change.org petition is calling to shut down Broadway to traffic between 1st and 5th avenues.

“Based on a recent death, there are safety improvements to be made, and pedestrianizing Broadway is something we’ve been talking about for years and we just need to do it,” said Ben Vaught, who works downtown and supports the petition. “The state needs to do it.”
