Docs: Portland man cited after Great Dane connected to several vicious attacks

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A Portland man was cited, booked into jail and released on a misdemeanor charge of maintaining a dangerous dog after several incidents, KATU has learned.

According to court documents, the attacks began in 2025 with a Great Dane named Shadow under previous owners. Prosecutors say three notices of infraction were issued to Daniel Ward and Serena Starner based on Shadow’s aggressive behavior and attacks on other dogs.

In February 2026, a woman reported that she and her dog were attacked by a Great Dane. The woman reported being bitten on the face, neck and hands.

Animal Services believed Shadow was involved in the attack, and in March, the victim told officials she learned the dog was suspected of living at 4975 SE Division St. The apartment manager told Animal Control that the dog now belonged to 39-year-old Alika Kelekele, who was in the process of being evicted…
