NEW SCOTLAND — The New Scotland Planning Board took no action Aug. 4 on a proposed battery-energy storage facility at 37 Wormer Road, a 13.8-acre parcel located in a residential district and owned by Councilman Adam Greenberg.
The board on Aug. 4 kept the public-comment period open — the packed meeting was moved from the town hall to the New Salem firehouse because of bees — till its next meeting, currently set for Sept. 1.
The proposal from New Leaf Energy is for six Tesla Megapack cabinets, each approximately 29 feet long, 4 to 5 feet deep, and 9 feet high. At the maximum rate, the proposed 5-megawatt system could power approximately 1,000 homes for four hours, according to New Leaf, and longer if the energy draw is lighter…
