PETERSBURG, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Petersburg bridge will soon be dedicated to New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Supervisor Robert Bornt, who was fatally struck while on the job in May 2025. According to an announcement by the NYSDOT, the bridge is located on State Route 2 crossing over State Route 22.
On May 29, 2025, Bornt was leading a construction project on State Route 7 in Pittstown, when a car crossed into a designated work zone and struck him. Bornt was then brought by ambulance to a nearby medevac helicopter and flown to Albany Medical Center. He died the next day.
