Legacy Dallas, a permanent exhibit at the Dallas County Records Building, opened last week, and provides a glimpse into how the county evolved from settlements to the eighth-largest county in the U.S.
In addition, a new website showcases the exhibit and tells more of the city’s history. You can poke around the different eras, check out some of the artifacts in the exhibit, and just learn more about Dallas County history. Both the website and the exhibit are free of charge. Organizers say that the move was to build on the mission of the Old Red Museum, providing people a free way to understand the history of their county.
“Legacy Dallas represents the next chapter in the work that began at the Old Red Museum,” said David Biegler, Chairman of the Board, Old Red Courthouse, Inc. “This presentation is the natural evolution of that mission – expanding it beyond a single building into a broader storytelling ecosystem that lives both downtown and online.
