A paraprofessional formerly employed at a Jefferson County elementary school has been charged with child abuse after she allegedly assaulted a developmentally disabled student.
Cynthia Ann Monroe, 60, was charged with felony third-degree assault and misdemeanor child abuse, according to a news release from the 1st Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Monroe is alleged to have forcibly grabbed a student and dragged them by the arm in April.
