CHP set to conduct DUI, license checkpoint in Bakersfield Saturday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The California Highway Patrol is set to conduct a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint in an unincorporated Bakersfield area on Saturday.

The checkpoint is scheduled from 6 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

DUI checkpoints serve three purposes: deterrence, removal of drunk drivers from the road and public education. CHP said research shows crashes involving an impaired driver are reduced when there are proactive DUI patrols and well-publicized DUI checkpoints…
