Not guilty: Man acquitted in Portsmouth 2023 double homicide

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A jury found Brian Johnson not guilty of murder charges in a 2023 double homicide case in Portsmouth.

The jury trial ended with a not guilty verdict on Aug. 12, 2026. The circuit court website shows that he faced an amended felony charge of first-degree murder.

Police arrested Johnson in May 2023 on multiple charges in connection with the killings of 28-year-old Carlos Cordova and 22-year-old Carlos Castro-Murillo
