Zinnias flourish during hot weather, so Aug. 15 was the perfect day to enjoy the colorful summer flowers during the Zinnia Fest at Rinkel Pumpkin Farm near Glen Carbon.
Visitors were invited to pick and purchase their own zinnias and take them home in a signature flower cup, and many braved the triple-digit heat indices to do just that as they waded through a sea of bright, multicolored, tall-stemmed blossoms to make their selections.
