Richmond expands safety camera program to new intersection

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A new safety camera is in place at the intersection of Midlothian Turnpike and German School Road in Richmond.

Starting on Monday, Aug. 17, the city will begin a 30-day warning period during which drivers who run a red light at the intersection will receive a warning rather than a citation, according to a release from city officials.

“Following the warning period, registered vehicle owners who receive a red-light violation captured by the safety camera will be issued a $50 citation, in accordance with the Code of Virginia,” the release said…
