Some may argue that the “dog days of summer” never started in Portland, with only one 100-degree day. The dog days of summer are now over, ending on August 11. The “dog days” start July 3 and fall during this nearly 40-day stretch every year. That also happens to be when some of the longest and hottest days occur.
