Work is underway to replace four interstate bridges over Eighth Avenue in Nashville, bringing a long-term lane closure beneath the bridges and, later, three weekends of major closures.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation says all four bridges have reached the end of their service lives and show signs of deterioration. The project includes the eastbound and westbound I-40 bridges, the I-65 northbound ramp to I-40 westbound at Exit 82A, and the I-40 eastbound ramp to I-65 southbound at Exit 210.
For now, crews are working beneath the bridges. One southbound lane on Eighth Avenue will remain closed through approximately fall 2027, according to TDOT. Overnight lane closures on I-40 may also occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m…
